August 10th marks the one year anniversary of our house flood that ruined our cooking area and living room. It likewise marks the very last nail that I drove into the wall to complete our stunning Coastal Household Room and Fireplace Transformation! IT IS FINALLY ENDED UP! Commemorate with me! I’m so unbelieveably thrilled to reveal you the living room and the brand-new Do It Yourself wood beam mantel and marble herringbone fireplace that we constructed ourselves! The room’s style is a mix of traditional seaside chic with a unwinded ambiance of natural, rustic aspects, that does not take itself to seriously
If you forgot, here is a pointer of what the previous fireplace looked like. The fireplace itself was substantial. I endured the brick which I suppressed the year before, but the general appearance of the fireplace was simply too conventional and official for our taste.
After letting our contractor go … ahem … I decided we might build a fireplace surround and mantel ourselves. I imply why not? They wanted to charge me $1500 for a really plain and traditional looking mantel. Ummm, no … time to get our Do It Yourself huge girl pants on! So I picked a gorgeous marble herringbone tile and got to work.
Here it is! I remain in love! We still need a carpet, but we’re doing a bit of puppy-sitting this summertime so I believe I’ll wait till that is over before I purchase a new carpet.
Later on today I will provide a complete tutorial on how we developed the. DIY Wood Beam Mantel and the surround but in the meantime this post will just be great deals of eye candy.
The wood beam is made from red oak, stained with Minwax’s Weathered Oak Spot. The fisheye mirror is from Ballard Designs but it was a bit too brassy gold so at the last minute I painted it white and after that sanded off the paint to reveal the gold beneath.
We are delighted with how our coastal household room and integrated bookshelves ended up. I have to give mega kudos to the centers for making that crown molding appearance so remarkable. We had our cabinet maker paint the backing of the bookcases the very same color as the walls: Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams.
Tonight we are popping the cork on a bottle of champagne and celebrating the END of a really stressful year that brought many tears, hot tempers, frustration, inconvenience, resolution, creativity, style risks, a whole lot of persistence and in the end perseverance towards a home that we can entirely call OUR OWN!
Who understood God would give me a battle so that I would learn to trust Him through it all and that the a service would be more stunning than I ever envisioned! I wish to that all of you who have sustained this journey with us … all my whining and complaining and to be honest … overlook of the blog site. It’s been a hard year but I’m delighted to have my home back, much better than ever, and start living once again without sawdust … well, maybe just a little less sawdust.
