This is our first year really decorating our Michigan house for Christmas because this time last year we were just moving into this home of ours. I was so excited to start & then when it finally came I realized the ONE thing I hate about decorating for the holidays. There are a million different ways you can decorate for christmas! I had so many ideas that I became overwhelmed. For today’s #HolidayHouseWalk2015 with Jennifer Rizzo. I ended up wanting to create a cozy cottage christmas home with lots of pops of red & antique touches. I wanted every space to be super cozy & to give off that rustic cottage vibe. I plan on simplifying a little later this season to show how our spaces would look like more simplified & more neutral. I will also be doing separate posts on each of these rooms and the decor I’m showing today with more details, But today it’s all about those cozy pops of red & our cozy little Christmas cottage home tour with Good Housekeeping, Joss & Main, & Jennifer Rizzo along with a bunch of other lovely bloggers this week…
Welcome to our cozy christmas home! You are probably stoping here from Jenn Rizzo’s lovely blog as she was stop number one on the Holiday House Walk. Thank your for stopping by! Here is what our front door looks like today, we haven’t finished our full Christmas porch yet, but this DIY bucket wreath I blogged about [here] is quite welcoming for the holidays…
First stop, our upstairs living room:
This is the room you enter when you first come into our house. It’s our cozy living area where we sit with our coffee in the morning, read, or visit with friends and family. There is no TV in this space which I love because it promotes peaceful moments. I used our vintage sleds as the focal points in the room, & carried the sleds into the Christmas tree. The sleds are from Homegoods & Target, & I mixed some skis in from the Target dollar spot as well. I got those lovely red & white strip pillows from Joss & Main [here], & the pillows on the chairs from So Vintage Chic [here]. You can see my post on the card catalog Christmas decor [here] with all of the sources, & my post on the sled [here].
Next stop our kitchen…
Our kitchen is such a simple little space that I wanted to keep the decor in it simple as well. I used some ornament garland from Marshalls, along with some rustic christmas trees & artwork from marshalls as well. Then i mixed in a wreath from Homegoods & some simple christmas trees in olive buckets from Target. Seriously so simple & that’s how I like it! You can see how I made my kitchen sign [here] & see my post about that kitchen scale [here].
Next stop is our downstairs living room…
This room is the coziest room out in our home, it’s the one we sit in all the time and watch tv in, where I usually blog from, & just where we hang out in general. I really wanted this room to be a fun room with lots of pops of color & layers of Christmas decor. I used my christmas tree sign from Feather & Birch [here], wool red pillows from HomeGoods, Plaid pillows & the car pillow from Pottery Barn, & of course those red & white pillows from Target. I put some christmas trees in those metal buckets from A Cottage In The City [here]. The merry & bright banner is from a local store, Rebel Reclaimed here in Grand Rapids & those lights are something I haven’t shown yet & they are from Painted Fox [here]. I decided to leave the trees down here naked & that’s kind of something I’m loving this year is naked trees. Never thought I would say that, but I do!
You can see an entire blog post I did on our dining room Christmas decor [here] for all of the details, but I’m loving the rustic woodland vibe in here & those trees on both sides of the pie safe from Joss & Main are my favorite thing ever. I want to keep them out all year! You can also see the full post on that christmas ladder [here] for those of you wondering about that little gem.
Next stop is my office…
I also have already done a full post on this room that you can see [here]. I love how rustic and cozy my office is from Christmas, but it has proven harder to get work done these days! Head on over to the original blog post for all the sources & details.
Next & final stop today is our Master bedroom…
I will be doing an entire post on our master bedroom Christmas decor soon, but for now I’m loving our naked Christmas tree from The king of Christmas, & of course our chandelier from Painted Fox that always steals the show. On the nightstands I placed a potted tree from Marshalls along with a clock from Joss & Main & some lamps from Pottery Barn. On the mirrors I hung some wreaths from Balsam Hill & on the dresser I added some more ornament garland from Marshalls. Just a super simple cozy bedroom that I never ever want to leave. You can get more of our bedroom details [here].
Wow! That was a lot to share. That is what our Christmas home tour looks as of today, but like I said I will be blogging all the rooms separately & making some slight changes to show you how you can change your decor instantly by just changing some things around. Next stop on the home tour is Just Destiny Mag [here] Have fun over on her blog & tell her I sent you! Her home NEVER disappoints. & be sure to follow the housewalk all week as there are many more awesome bloggers as well!
