7 Inspiring Kitchens

Now that the house plans have been approved by the design review board and things are moving forward, I’ve started day dreaming and thinking about the various design ideas I have for the interior of our home. Between paint colors, trim colors and lighting, I’ve starting doing some major pinning .

7 Inspiring Kitchens

One of the rooms that seems to have the most options and decisions to make is the kitchen. Whether to have the sink in the island or a cooktop on top of the island instead. Should we go with a double oven built-in, or a slide in range with hood? There’s also the cabinet color, backsplash tile, lighting and wall color to decide on. I realize I have some time before I have to make all those decisions, but today I thought I would show you some kitchens that have caught my eye and that I hope to use as inspiration for our new kitchen.

I definitely want to go with a neutral color scheme of sorts for the kitchen. I love the look of these cabinets. Almost a white-washed wood color with creamy walls. I also like the small amount of open shelving next to the hood to display some fun kitchen accessories.

I like the idea of having a few glass-pane cabinets for displaying pretty dishes. It might not be super practical though since it forces you to keep them looking pretty and polished. I’m also dying to put some wood elements in our home like these wood ceiling beams and archway. We’ll have to see if that fits in the budget though. Something we could always do a few years down the line.

As you can tell I gravitate towards white cabinets. It just feels so crisp and clean. I love the pendants hanging over the island and the combination of a light granite countertop and dark wood countertop.

Another beautiful kitchen with wood beam accents and dark wood countertops. Love these pendants too and the industrial barstools. In general, I love the idea of combining rustic with elegant features.

I know it’s common to do a different color paint for the island. While I do like that idea, I don’t necessarily like the idea of going with a color that is such a stark contrast with the rest of the cabinet colors. I love the color used on this kitchen island. Adds a bit of color to the space, but it blends really nicely with the rest of the neutral palette.

My dream has always been to have a farmhouse sink, so we will definitely be making it happen in our new home. I also love the idea of incorporating beadboard or wide planks in our house, whether in the kitchen like they do in this backsplash and ceiling or in other areas like bathrooms or hallways.

In our kitchen island I would love to incorporate some shelving on one side, like the below kitchen, to store commonly used things like cookbooks or small appliances to avoid crowding the kitchen counters.
