It is so odd to me that I invite you into my house so frequently– and yet, we seldom visit our basement. When we prepared our restorations three years earlier, it is one of our preferred spaces and really was a big video game changer.
You see, this space flooded. A lot. It especially liked to flood when Dana remained in China.
When we initially started planning our remodellings, we worked with a designer who produced grand plans of an expanded space of our very first floor. And we were believing that was our finest alternative. However then, one early morning right around Christmas, Dana had been up a number of hours before me (he is a 4:00 am type of guy). When I boiled down for coffee he started sharing that he actually felt we didn’t require more area, we just required to use what we had better.
So, we set out to fix the water problems. And knock on wood everyone in unison please– we have.
This allowed us to keep the very same footprint of what we had and strategy from there. I will be sharing more on our renovation decisions later today.
The basement space has had to do with comfort, enjoyable and three (actually four) zones.
The very first zone is the everybody zone with a big comfy couch, enjoyable vintage chair and the TV. This likewise the location where my women’ pals all accumulate for sleep overs. I believe that is the part I love the best– how much this is an area for them to be with their buddies.
On the within, there is an indication that checks out how many miles it is to Putnam!
The design I utilized down here was more about contrasts. Modern racks with classic treasures. Crisp white and silver light fixtures contrasting with rustic barn wood beams.
One of my preferred products down here is the old N.H. Maple Syrup sign my girlfriend discovered at Brimfield for me. And naturally, she understood to get the story behind it for me. It utilized to hang at an old hotel in N.H. that also offered syrup.
The second zone is the kid and crafting zone. The cabinets have material and crafting supplies in them (these were purchased at Lowe’s a few years ago). The table is from Ikea and tidies up truly easily from paint accidents and such.
When she was a puppy done in brilliant colors by a dear sweet pal, there is a fun gallery wall consisting of a painting of Bailey from.
Third zone is the adult zone with a bar and fridge.
The white stools are from Ikea.
All in all, this is a space that has served us well. Particularly when we have a party. Due to the fact that, history has shown that if the Putnams toss a party– it will rain. When it rains, all the kids go down here and the adults await the cooking area.
The door to the left of the mileage box is the under stair closets and cubby and that is where all the toys live.
