In the Corners of the Room

Above the Stairs
Arranging a gallery wall in an unexpected spot, such as above a stair landing, draws attention to the pieces. In Sunset Magazine’s Ideas Home, photographed by Coco Kelley, artworks in a similar style and neutral color palette hang out above the stairs.
Along a Narrow Hallway
Many apartments have a long, narrow entryway hallway, such as the one above from 91 Magazine, found via Happy Interior Blog. While this space can be a challenge to decorate, the key is to choose pieces that mimic the hallway’s long, narrow shape—like the wall-mounted storage units and runner, above.
In the Shower
Just because it’s a space your guests won’t see, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make your shower feel like part of your home. A couple water-safe decoration options: Hang some humidity-loving plants and invest in a tub caddy, as shown above in Michelle LeBlanc’s home on The Glitter Guide.
On the Windowsill
If your window has even the tiniest of ledges, it’s the perfect spot to prop some sun-loving plants and pretty knick-knacks, as demoed by this interior from Alvhem.
On Top of the Kitchen Cabinets
Use attractive wire storage baskets to corral shelf-stable items you don’t reach for very often, as Elsie Larson from A Beautiful Mess did in her kitchen, or line up elegant serving dishes you only pull out on special occasions.
Above the Doorway
While you may not be prepared to install a built-in bookshelf like the gorgeous one above from Historiska Hem, you can easily add a single shelf or hang a piece of art above the doorway. It’s a simple way to draw the eye to an unexpected spot.
